How Do I Join NCSA?

Can I learn to speed skate? Yes! Speed skating is open to all skill levels and joining Northern California Speedskating Association (NCSA) is simple! We offer both professionally coached on ice sessions and dryland training (off-ice workouts)—each designed to build essential speed skating skills.

We have beginner, intermediate and advanced teams, with our advanced team competing at the national championship level across many age groups.

Dryland Training

  • Develops strength, balance, fitness and flexibility for speed skating.
  • Improves technique and body control without the need for ice time.
  • Great for beginners and essential for advanced skaters to build a strong foundation before hitting the ice.

Ice Training

  • Develops race technique, strategy, specific technique and speed on the ice.
  • Essential for competitive skaters aiming to improve lap times, agility and fitness.
  • The best way to experience real speed skating conditions.
  • Its also super fun!
